The Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed in principle to a trade that would send Baron Davis and a draft pick to Cleveland for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon, according to multiple reports. The mercurial point guard’s Southern California struggles have been well documented and trade speculation has abounded for months, so this is not exactly a news flash. However, it seems as if now might be the time to finally initiate active talks.
Davis, 31, has two years and $29 million left on his contract after this season. He signed a five-year, $65 million contract with the Clippers in July 2008, intending to return to his hometown to play alongside Elton Brand. Davis was informed of the trade after the Clippers’ loss in New Orleans. “He was stunned,” said a source close to him.
